How do I upgrade my file type to add accounting?

If you initially created a probate-only file and later need accounting functionality, you can upgrade your file type directly within the estate file.

When to Upgrade a File Type

Upgrading a file type allows you to include estate accounting features. This is useful if the scope of work expands beyond probate.

How to Upgrade Your File Type

  1. Open the estate file you want to upgrade.

  2. Ensure you are in the Overview tab.

  3. In the top-right corner of the file, locate the File Type label.

    • This will typically display Probate for probate-only files.

  4. Click the Upgrade File Type button.

Cost of Upgrading

  • Upgrading the file type adds estate accounting to the file.

  • The cost is $99 + applicable taxes.

  • Once upgraded, accounting features become immediately available in the file.

Important Notes

  • Upgrading is done on a per file basis.

  • The upgrade applies only to the selected estate file.

  • If you anticipate needing accounting from the beginning, selecting Full Estate Administration at file creation avoids the need to upgrade later.
