This feature is available for users on Core, Advanced and Enterprise account plans. You must also first enable the Clio integration in Settings before creating a new file from a Clio matter.

How to Import Data from Clio to Estateably

If you use both Clio and Estateably, you may want to import data from Clio to Estateably to avoid redundant data entry. This can be done easily by following the steps outlined below.

Step 1: Access the Estates List

To begin, click on the 'Estates' option from the top menu. This will take you to the Estates list.

Step 2: Create a New File

Next, select the 'Add New Estate' option to create a new file.

Step 3: Choose a Way to Start

When prompted to choose a way to start, select 'Import from Clio' and click 'Start'. You will see a form with two options: 'Import from Clio' and 'Start From Scratch'.

Tip: If you are unsure which option to choose, you can always start from scratch and manually enter the data.

Step 4: Locate the Clio Case

The 'Select Matter' modal will appear. You can locate the Clio case you wish to import data from by using the search field to enter a Clio file number or name. Alternatively, you can use the arrows in the bottom right to navigate to the various pages and find the case you wish to import.

Once you have located the desired case, click 'Select'.

Step 5: Manage Data to Import

In the 'Manage Data to Import' modal, select the contacts you wish to import to Estateably. For each contact, use their respective drop-down field to select from the following options:

Tip: If the list of contacts is lengthy and you don't need to import all contacts into Estateably, you can use the search field to easily find the contact(s) you need.

Ensure the 'Import Intake Information' option is selected to import other matter details that have been mapped from Clio to Estateably, and click 'Continue'.

Note: The 'Import Intake Information' option is checked off by default.

Step 6: Complete the Case Creation Process

The system will then load the standard case creation modals, starting with 'Select Jurisdiction'. The location details will be populated based on the location information of the selected Clio case.

Step 7: Confirm Case Details

Once you have confirmed the case details and created the new case, you will be able to see any Clio details mapped to Estateably fields in the Overview, Intake, and Contact sections.

Note: Creating an Estateably case from a Clio matter does not link or synchronize data between the two applications. This is a one-time copy of information to eliminate redundant data entry.
