How to Add a Current GIC (Acquired During Administration)

This article explains how to add a GIC purchased after the date of death.

Steps to add a current GIC

  1. Open your file.

  2. Navigate to Estate Accounting → Assets.

  3. Click Add New.

  4. Select:

    • Inventory Type = Asset

    • Asset Type = GIC

  5. Select the checkbox:
    Asset acquired during administration

  6. Enter:

    • Paid From Account

    • Transaction date

    • Value

    • Description (optional)

  7. Click Save.


What happens after saving?

  • The GIC appears in your asset list

  • A purchase transaction is automatically created

  • No Date of Death value is shown
