Accessing a Task

Selecting "View Details" next to a task will bring up the task contents on the right-hand side of the screen.

  1. Description

You can change the task's status as follows:

    1. Incomplete

    2. Not applicable

    4. Complete

  3. Due date
Setting a due date will create a deadline in the Overview section. It will also automate email reminders to the task assignee.

  4. Assignee
You can assign the task to yourself or another collaborator.

  5. To-do list
Within the to-do list, you can create subtasks that can be checked off throughout the process. To access this section, click on the "To-do list" tab at the top of the task drawer.

  6. Notes

History

To see a history of status changes on the task, click on the "History" tab at the top of the task drawer.

Task Phases

The tasks in Estateably are automatically categorized into phases. This is to allow users to focus on relevant steps of the estate process as they go.

By default, phases with in-progress tasks will be open when you access the Tasks.

You can open or close the sections by simply clicking on the phase name.

Task Deadlines and Assignments

General information

Within each task, users (given that they have permissions to do so) can add a deadline to the task as well as add an assignee to the task.

By adding a deadline to a task, this will display a tag on the task in the list with the amount of time left to complete the task.

How to add or change assignees from the task list

  1. Find the desired task in the list.

  2. Click on the current assignee or "Assign to" link. You can then select the new assignee.

Deadline-based reminders

Assigning a task to yourself or a collaborator on the file will notify that person and should the task have a deadline, they will be reminded at a frequency of their choosing (2, 5, 7 days or all prior to its due date).

If the task has a deadline but no formal assignee, the case file owner will be notified prior to the deadline.

Note: Deadlines and Assignees can be removed or changed at any time.
