Manage bank accounts (Estates and POAs)

To record transactions in a deceased's or grantor's bank account, the account must first be managed. This article explains how to manage an account and change its opening balance.

Managing an account in Estateably realizes the account and creates an opening balance transaction in the Accounting section.


Manage a bank account

  1. Click Accounting in the left-hand menu.

  2. Click Assets at the top to locate the bank account you want to manage. Verify that the Current Value is the correct initial balance.

  3. Click the bank account, then click Manage.

  4. A prompt asks you to confirm. Click Proceed.

This takes you to the Accounting section and creates an opening balance transaction for the Current Value of the account.


Change the opening balance of a managed account

  1. Click Accounting in the left-hand menu.

  2. Click Assets at the top, then click the three-dot menu next to the managed account and select Edit Initial Balance of Account.

  3. Update the Current Value of the account.

  4. Scroll to the top and click Save.

This updates the opening balance transaction in the accounting section.


Once an account is managed, you can add and manage transactions in the Accounting section of Estateably.
