Track market value history on an asset
Go to Accounting and open the estate or trust you're working in.
Click Add asset and select the asset type (for example, Real estate).
Select the asset classification — Funding asset for a trust, or Date of death asset for an estate.
Enter the start date and the asset value.
Enter the most recent valuation date in the Market valuation date field, then click Save. The asset now displays the market value as of that date.
To add a new valuation, click the three-dot menu on the asset and select View market value history.
Click Add new valuation, enter the valuation date and the updated value, add any notes, then click Save. The new entry appears in the history list and the asset reflects the updated value.
Track market value history on a holding
Open the account that contains the holding.
Go to the Holdings tab. Select the holding you want to update.
Click Market value history at the top of the holding details panel.
Click Add new valuation, enter the date and the new value, then click Save. The holding's value updates immediately.
Import valuations via statement import
Go to the Statement import tab. (This tab is visible only if statement import is enabled on your account.)
Import your initial statement, then import a subsequent statement.
Estateably reads the subsequent statement and updates the valuation automatically. The new value appears on the holding once the import completes.
View valuations in a report
Go to Reports and generate a report for the period you want. Estateably uses the latest valuation for each holding as of the report's end date. The report displays the principal balance on hand, carry value, and inventory value for each asset and holding.
Conclusion
Market value history is now recorded and can be reflected in specific reporting periods.
