Spreadsheet format requirements
Before importing, ensure your file matches the required format. Confirm that it does not contain transactions already in the system — duplicates are not filtered automatically.
The spreadsheet must include these columns:
Date (required) — format: YYYY-MM-DD
Description (optional) — describes the transaction
Account Type (optional) — classifies the transaction:
Capital/Revenue (Canada)
Principal/Income (US)
Value (required) — deposits must be positive; withdrawals must be negative. Formatting (e.g. currency symbols, commas) is ignored.
Steps
Go to Estate Accounting › Transactions from the left-hand menu.
Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and select Import.
Drag your CSV or Excel file into Estateably, or click Select File to locate it on your computer.
Choose the Estate Account the transactions will go through and select a default Money Type (Capital or Revenue). Click Next.
Map the column names in your file to the appropriate fields.
Review the transactions and make any needed changes. Click Save Transactions to finalize the import.
Conclusion
Transactions are now imported and ready to review. Contact [email protected] if you need help with formatting or import errors.
