When defining a new holding, use the Asset Class and Sub-class fields to properly classify the holding for data accuracy and reporting.
Start by selecting an Asset Class.
If more detail is needed, choose a sub-class from the refined list. This ensures each holding is classified at the right level — whether broad like Fixed Income or specific like GIC.
If nothing fits, select Other and free-type the value you want.
A few helpful tips
Sub-Class is required if there's a list of options available. For example, if you choose Equity, you must also pick Common Shares, Stock, or another associated sub-class.
No Sub-Class needed for Cash or Accrued Interest — they're simple enough on their own.
When in doubt, pick "Other." Not every holding fits neatly into a box. Select Other and free-type the value you want to use.
