Creating a File from a Clio Matter

With an active Clio integration, you can create a new Estateably file and import information directly from a Clio matter.

Updated today

The Clio integration is included with the Productivity Bundle, see Estateably Pricing for more details.

Overview

Estateably's Clio integration allows you to pull Intake and Contact directly into a new file. Before proceeding, ensure your Clio integration is activate and that your fields are configured. See Integrating with Clio to complete setup.

Steps to Create a File from a Clio Matter

  1. Navigate to the Estates dashboard and click Add New Estate on the right-hand side

  2. In the Setup Wizard, select Import from Clio and click Next

  3. Select the team to associate with this file

  4. Select the file type: Probate, Accounting Only, or Probate and Accounting

  5. Select the jurisdiction

  6. Locate your Clio matter using the search bar. Please note you can only select one matter at a time

  7. Click Next once your matter is selected

Managing Contacts to Import

  1. Review the contacts available from your Clio matter

  2. For each contact, use the drop-down field to assign their role: Beneficiary, Executor, or Other Contact

  3. Choose not to import a contact by leaving it unselected

  4. Click Next

Completing the File

  1. Review and confirm the file details

  2. Click Create File

  3. Estateably will use your mapped fields from Settings and the information you just reviewed to build the file

Conclusion

Once your file is created, the imported information will appear in the Intake and Contacts sections based on the field mapping configured in your Settings. If a field was not mapped during integration setup, it will not be populated on import. To update your field mapping, see Integrating with Clio.

Keep in mind that this is a one-time, one-way import. Changes made in Clio after the file is created will not be reflected in Estateably and changes made in Estateably, will not be reflected on the Clio matter.
